Is valerian used as a soporific? Then give me some, because I'm plagued by insomnia!Yellow Valerian
yep ... one of it's medicinal qualities ... you can get it at a herbalists and make it into a nice tea. Sometimes you can buy it in capsules as well.
Loved it - the long winter naps :)Nasty tasting stuff though. Better follow that Valerian with something sweet.
yep .. well most "tisane" (herbal teas) are pretty nasty ... except chamomile tea ... that's lovely even without sugar or honey.
Nicely done, cara...this used to help me sleep and now gives me nightmares unfortunately.
Ouch ... wonder why the nightmares ... chamomile tea is pleasanter. ;-)
Wonderful -- those naps.. I need some of that.
Here in Italy we can find it even in the pharmacy, in capsule form.
Love it ... but I'll stick to camomile tea.
I agree camomilla is much nicer ;-)
Ah! Sweet dreams through Valerian ... are you going into hibernation Georgia? :-)
Not at all Kirstjaan .. one thing I never worry about is falling asleep ... and though bearish at times, winter is too long to sleep through :-D besides I'd miss all the CDHK memes!
Lovely, Georgia. That root no longer works for me and nor does melatonin...I get nighmares from both...darn! I find it odd that that pretty yellow flower has such yucky smelling roots.
Strange that it stopped working or rather worse that it gives you nightmares! And yes .. it is yucky (some say it smells like cat wee)!
