Accepting the Finite - Haiku - December 1, 2014

lost dreams
falling like these ashes
in the fireplace

we said goodbye
then he left this earth
in December

one last protest song
we stood around her coffin
bitter-sweet farewells

  1. Will there ever, I wonder, be a last protest song? Something in me hopes not!

    1. A memory from my maid of honor's funeral ... it was the song in the video ... and I hope you're right!

  2. A funeral.. bittersweet or bitter... sometimes acceptance is the crucial point

    1. Ah ... I think I know what you mean about the chills ... the video was one of the songs played at my maid of honor's funeral ... against war as you can see.

  4. How great and full of love written trio of haiku. Strong and so close to your heart, but also close to accepting the finite.

    1. Thanks Kristjaan ... this wasn't an easy prompt to write to ... but it was cathartic. Thank you for your feedback.
