I'd only heard about Diwali recently, last year in fact, thanks to the bloggers who celebrate this festival. So, I really don't know what to write about the festival itself, only having read about it. However, in the darkest period of the year, in Europe, though we've forgotten its origins, we also celebrate a festaval of lights .. and I base my closing line, joyous laughter upon that festival, Yule.

Diwali is new to me too -- but so much joy in any festival of light-defeating-darkness. Loved the haiku -- :)
ReplyDeleteThanks .... love light festivals ... so I'm happy to know about this one! Glad you liked the haiku.
DeleteYule and Diwali are very similar to each other. Diwali is just as great as our Western Christmas. What a nice haiku Georgia.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kristjaan ... I'm sure that Diwali must be lovely ... I love the idea of light festivals all throughout the world, they seem the most beautiful ways to celebrate life!
