Sacred Earth - October 21, 2014

We are in the middle of our celebratory month of Carpe Diem Haiku Kai's second anniversary ... December 2013!  This was the month when I started to write haiku on a fairly regular basis inspired by CDHK!  I was totally enchanted by the music of Adrian Von Ziegler and fell in love with this wonderful site and Chèvrefeuille's wonderfully inspirational prompts!

Here's the piece I'll use as inspiration today to write a choka:

ah ... Trentino
mountains, valleys and rivers
blackbirds in the spring
sweet sun of summer
falling leaves in autumn rain
crisp snow in winter
watching the season's passage
discovering sacred earth

This is the series of haiku that I wrote for Sacred Earth on December 18th:

her days so gentle
spring brings to us her new gifts
generous mother
the warmth of her love
reflected through warm summer
light brightens our path
your fruit sustains us
we gather your gifts joyously
oh loving mother
feast with hopeful joy
as our mother rests – ’tis time
to burn the yule log

I found it very interesting that even after all these months, my mind goes to the four seasons when i think of sacred earth!

Here is the lovely haiku that our host wrote:

Mother Earth blossoms
while I dream of unknown paths -
the scent of roses
