Karumi: ‘lightness’. The simple treatment of the beauty to be found in the ordinary; common poetry, not that of the court.
Here are some quotes from the haiku master, Basho to help define this concept:
"Learn about a pine tree from a pine tree, and about a bamboo plant from a bamboo plant.”
"In my view a good poem is one in which the form of the verse, and the joining of its two parts, seem light as a shallow river flowing over its sandy bed”.

I'm especially fond of the veiled mountains. What mystery must lurk behind them!

DeleteHow did you know that I adore the violin and the harp? {kidding aside…how could you know?...chuckles} I find the violin sings, weeps, laughs and the harp soars, floats…You have captured with music and words this perfect moment with mes tournesols…ah, cara, merci pour ce beau moment…thankfully the mountains are veiled so not to intrude on this magical moment of beauty.Grazie, cara for presenting such a beautiful series…brava! xx
ReplyDeleteAh ... I looked into my crystal ball and saw the these are the instruments that inspire poetry ... glad you enjoyed the haiku :-)

DeleteSo very lovely Georgia, they have a wonderful movement
ReplyDeleteThanks Yves .. I'm happy you enjoyed the haiku ... :-)
DeleteI particularly like the first poem, mainly because the last line is so good and arrives so unexpectedly, so that I have to pause and fit the images together - I always enjoy that sensation when reading :)
ReplyDeleteNice choice .. whenever possible I like to create a nice surprise ending - this one wasn't really much of a surprise but it was abrupt to stop one up ... glad you enjoyed it Blake.
