Lantern - Haiku - November 25, 2014

seeking a path
in the darkest of nights -
an unlit lantern

light the lantern
midnight illumination -
to return home

Linked to Carpe Diem Haiku Kai where we read about the Japanese tōrō (灯籠 or 灯篭, 灯楼 light basket, light tower?).  Please follow the link to read more on this fascinating subject!

  1. Returning home ---- very nice Georgia :)

  2. To have a lantern burning upon returning home gives one a feeling of welcome, warmth and safety.

    Red Paper Lantern

  3. The irony of the first haiku is well observed, I think - I've lost track of the number of times I've gone staggering along dark paths with an unlit (metaphorical) lantern in my hand ;)

    1. I'm guilty of using this metaphorically ... there are some who would not appreciate that in a haiku ... but it seemed suitable to me ... glad you liked it :-)

harmonious words ... like crystal clear water ... pure ectasy
