an autumnal walk
reflecting on springs gone by
- blackbirds always sing
reflecting on springs gone by
- blackbirds always sing
don't reflect on tomorrows
life's an ephemeral dream
life is illusion
as the noble Buddha says -
t'is a dream we dream
illusions in illusions
tomorrows in yesterdays
sand in an hour glass
each grain a second of life
- slipping quickly by
each grain a second of life
- slipping quickly by

Today's Ghost Writer at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai is Jen from Blog it or Lose It!
Jen gives us a brief introduction to one of my favorite writers Edgar Allen Poe ... here is the poem which she put on her post for today's challenge and inspiration:
A DREAM WITHIN A DREAM.Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow—You are not wrong, who deemThat my days have been a dream;Yet if hope has flown awayIn a night, or in a day,In a vision, or in none,Is it therefore the less gone? All that we see or seemIs but a dream within a dream.I stand amid the roarOf a surf-tormented shore,And I hold within my handGrains of the golden sand—How few! yet how they creepThrough my fingers to the deep,While I weep—while I weep!O God! can I not graspThem with a tighter clasp?O God! can I not saveOne from the pitiless wave?Is all that we see or seemBut a dream within a dream?
