At Carpe Diem Haiku Kai for the past week we've been looking at the 7 sacred Japanese flowers used in haiku, today was dedicated to the Large Pink (Nadeshiko) or Carnation.

blooming pinks

Here is our hosts haiku . I was surprised to discover that carnations are often used in funeral bouquets in Holland, this is a particularly poignant haiku.
