Another episode of our Special feature "Use That Quote" is here ... The goal of this feature is to write a haiku, senryu, tanka, kyoka or haibun inspired on a given quote of a famous human.
For this episode I have chosen a quote by Buddha.
Today's quote is from the Buddha (Siddhartha Gauthama) from Carpe Diem Haiku Kai and is:
[…] "Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared" […]
§§§§§
the blackbird's song
joyous warbles of spring
lifts men's heart
inviting happy smiles
warming sunshine
joyous warbles of spring
lifts men's heart
inviting happy smiles
warming sunshine
the cawing crows
in the cold autumn mists
announce summer's death
in the cold autumn mists
announce summer's death
your smiling face
laughing sparkling eyes
a blackbird's song
These are all beautiful -- but I'm especially fond of the last stanza/ haiku / senryu. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen ... I'm especially in love with the blackbird's spring courting songs ... I'm glad you enjoyed that image very much!
ReplyDeleteOh, I did! We don't hear the blackbirds so much here -- mostly mourning doves and scolding chickadees here lately! :)
ReplyDeleteWell we're not hearing them either, one spring is over they rarely sing ... until some youngster tries his voice out in autumn. With the rain and cold, we aren't hearing the chickadees either :-(
DeleteA wonderful short story caught in Japanese poems ... awesome Georgia. Thank you for sharing this with us all.
ReplyDelete;-) a pleasure.
DeleteBlack birds, crows, crackles - so misunderstood.
ReplyDeleteI do get a few of them at my bird feeder.
I also like the red wing black birds -
