"create ... haunting misdirection’s."
taken by storm
screeching winds howl
over the grave yard
black claws in the sky
death bells toll in the city
halloween weather
screech in the night
a sheet blew off the clothes-line
onto the alley cat

Being rather literal minded, I found this a particularly difficult prompt, this was our hosts haiku example:
My skeleton
going for a walk
in the cemetery
going for a walk
in the cemetery
I wanted to see some more of Gary's haiku so I googled and came up with Terebess Asia Online (which you might want to go and visit!) where I found quite a few, and more inspiration ...
Autumn begins
leaves follow me
into the shed
used
book store;
the cat moves quietly
among dead authors
the cat moves quietly
among dead authors
These examples of Garys are stunning. Thanks for the reference.
ReplyDeleteSheets on the clothes lines blowing off on to the alley cat could cause quite a racket...I can imagine all the abusive expletives from the neighbours in Italian...like a Fellini movie :) Good one !
Lol ... yes, you can be sure that cat would yowl! It was inspired actually by a wind storm we had last night, somebody lost their garden table's cloth ... a cat was playing with it when it billowed up like a ghost ... the cat jumped and ran away .. but the haiku stayed ;-) Glad you enjoyed Gary's examples .. there were more on the prompt post (linked) ... but as usual I was in a rush and didn't realize that.
DeleteOh, what a creepy video! Jumped when the bell tolled .... love it! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the mix of the eerie and the humorous here.
Cool no? It seemed so suitable for Halloween ... and reminded me somehow of the wind storm we were having here as I wrote the post .. even to the bell tolling.
DeleteNice response Georgia .... you can find more haiku/haiga by Garry Gay by clicking on the red words "new snow" under the photo which I shared in the post by Garry Gay. He has awesome photo-haiga.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristjaan ... I was just saying to Rallentanda that I'd missed the link due to my hurried harried state that morning and I'm so happy you pointed it out so I can go and check it out ... I'd really enjoy seeing his photo-haiga which is one of the aspects I like very much of haiku writing.
DeleteHow I'd love to see that alley cat running around with a sheet on its back! (Or maybe, if the night were very dark, I wouldn't!)
ReplyDeleteBetween Death and Life
I think if the night was right .. the wind howling (and cat yowling) a church bell maybe tolling in the background and not far from the grave-yard, what would usually be funny could be a little scary :-)
DeleteNothing like a screeching alley cat!
ReplyDeleteOh they do sound like banshees at times!
DeleteLove the alley cat with a sheet on it..
ReplyDeleteThought you might ... you have a lovely sense of humor ;-)
DeleteI love the clothes line sheet on the alley cat!
ReplyDeleteLol ... I agree ... would seem like a yowling ghost!
DeleteWonderful variety in this post, what with all of the different aspects in your's and Gary's haiku, and then the sinister trees...... ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Blake ... it was a windy morning ... and the video just fit in so well .. glad you enjoyed the post!
