Apples (2) - September 26, 2014

A second round for apples ... when I lived in Northern Africa, I discovered that the only apples that could be found were imported from the cooler European climes. An agronomist explained, that the fruit won't form unless the tree had undergone a winter freeze.

Apples - September 24, 2014

For today Jane Reichhold's kigo at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai is apples ..

Anyone who's read my posts lately know that we've received a basket of first apples from a friend.  They're a tad green and very tart.  The smell of those apples though filled the room ('til we put them out in a cool dry spot) reminding me of the poor dwarfs in the Hobbit who had escaped from the Elves in barrels that had been used to store apples ... when I read this the first time, I was eating an apple, it brought the story alive!
