Anyone who's read my posts lately know that we've received a basket of first apples from a friend. They're a tad green and very tart. The smell of those apples though filled the room ('til we put them out in a cool dry spot) reminding me of the poor dwarfs in the Hobbit who had escaped from the Elves in barrels that had been used to store apples ... when I read this the first time, I was eating an apple, it brought the story alive!

ReplyDeleteYou are always welcome ... have you tried slicing apple ring and grilling them ... you then put a little honey and chopped hazelnuts on them and they make a nice breakfast with green tea!
DeleteA haiku recipe... great thought
ReplyDeleteAh .. I living in this valley, where grapes, apples and prunes are the principle product have lots of recipes! One day I'll do a cooking post ;-)
DeleteLove the third one ~ well penned all of them!
ReplyDeleteartmusedog and carol (A Creative Harbor)
Thanks ... this is strudel season ;-)
DeleteAh.... this is orchard country here -- the sight of apple trees almost groaning under their weight really comes alive in the first haiku :D
ReplyDeleteCool ... Trentino - Alto-Adige has specialized in apples ... we furnish Italy with that fruit. I'm especially happy you could easily understand the first haiku! It is a sight right now.
DeleteA great trilogy. I am having a nice flavour.
ReplyDeleteA nice trilogy! The smell of apples is soul stirring.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you enjoyed the trilogy!
DeleteYou've been hanging around the kitchen again, haven't you?
ReplyDeletefruitless search for apples

DeleteThe biggest orchards here are in St. Thomas and Scotland - all those ancient-looking gnarled trees .... Lovely in spring too.
ReplyDeleteApple blossoms are really beautiful ... imagine having a place near you named Scotland ... too cool!
DeleteI did a mixed fruit pie the other day with apples, pears and my last peach...
ReplyDeleteyum.
Off to your other offering. :)
Now that sound like a great pie .. I'm going to have to try the idea (maybe with different fruit as peaches are long gone now and we've got the hard variety of pears).
DeleteMouth-watering words :)
ReplyDeleteAnd your comment is a lovely word play :-) Thanks!
DeleteThe only sport I am good at playing... I think - Word play :)
