Writing with Shiki - A Flash of Lightening

Today for Carpe Diem Haiku Kai, we visit with Shiki once again.

One of the important aspects to Shiki was to remove the religious aspects from haiku writing in favor of every nature and the everyday aspects of life.  Here is the poem today that we'll use as inspiration:

inazuma ya mori no sukima ni mizu mo mitari

a flash of lightning;
between the trees of the forest,
water appears

© Masaoka Shiki

And here is my haiku:

sudden piercing flash
illuminating grey skies
mountains tremble

    Loving the trembling mountains illuminated in the lightning's flash - like all earth trembles as much as the people!

    1. No no, your comment came over loud and clear ... I may remove the moderator ... it's such a hassle for everyone (encluding me!) thanks for your wonderful comment ... here when the lightning flashes the thunder rolls through those mountains and they do seem to vibrate and tremble at times :-)

    1. Here it often seems so when a real bad storm makes it echo from mountain to mountain across our valley.
