For Carpe Diem haiku Kai's Sparkling Stars ... a beautiful look at the autumn full moon:
meigetsu ya ike o megurite yo mo sugarathe night deepens
the autumn full moon:
all night long
I paced round the lake.

darker and darker the sky
without the streetlights
the night sky looks like a light show
the full moon and thousands of stars

tears of joy
spilled into the old pond -
the moon's reflection

A wonderful series from two of my favorite haiku masters! Now it's my turn to try to write a haiku about the autumn moon, which to the Japanese "the moon of autumn is the most beautiful gift of Mother Nature." And I agree.
October's full moon
silver light illuminates ---
empty stalks of grain
silver light illuminates ---
empty stalks of grain
on the mountain top
bright autumn moon rises high
quickening heart beats
bright autumn moon rises high
quickening heart beats
October silence
full moon my sole companion
winter reflections
full moon my sole companion

I love all three, Georgia...I do love October moon but I have to say that tonight it is just beautiful! So often I walk home late at night or drive back from a visit with the moon as my only companion...I never feel alone.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to have such an illuminated companion - I haven't seen the September moon yet ... alas too cloudy so i imagined the deep autumn moon (maybe that way the September moon will make itself be seen)
DeleteI especially liked the third one..:)-
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it Jazzytower .. and thanks for passing by again :-)
DeleteI like the connection to the grain in the first one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bjorn ... nothing like the moon over the fields after the harvest!
DeleteGreat trio Georgia ...

ReplyDeleteartmusedog and carol (A Creative Harbor)
Thanks Carol ... a beautiful month, I must agree. :-)
DeleteAt four am this morning the almost full moon was brilliant - not quite autumn, but still beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get that moon until this morning ... as it was ... raining. But this morning the moon was still brilliant and beautiful! :-)
Deleteso delicate - the moonlight on the stalks of grain --- ahhhhh!
ReplyDeleteAnother great series ---
Thanks Jen. You know, somehow it seems like cheating when I write just one haiku.
