Old Orchid Blossoms - Writing with Tomas Tranströmer - November 6, 2014

Old orchid blossoms ...
Paper littered in the park -
November wind blows.

This month's guest poet at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai is Thomas Tranströmer, Swedish poet and Nobel Prize winner for Literature whom we met on last Saturday's Sparkling Stars. Here's the poem Chèvrefeuille posted for our inspiration:

The orchid blossoms.
Oil tankers are gliding past.
And the moon is full

And there is a beautiful haiku by Basho as well:

ran no ka ya   cho no tusubasa ni   takimono su

orchid fragrance
from the butterfly's wings
scenting the clothes

© Basho

Finally this is our host's haiku for the occasion:

the cobweb scattered
by the fluttering of wings
a blue butterfly

  2. Very much a sense of autumn and time, and that cold November rain. (One of the few GnR songs from the 80s that I actually like ....)

    1. I'm confused as to the GnR ref .. I loved their knocking on heaven's door ... which was just about the only thing I liked about them ... my eldest was a fan of theirs ... I'm glad you caught the autumn feel ...
