Daisies
in early summer
children play in the fields
making daisy chains
unamused bees look on
at the waste of good food
as mothers call
daisy chains abandoned
among the poppies
trampled grass and flowers
sun sets behind the mountain
a young girl wonders
she plucks white daisy petals
looking for true love
decapitating daisies
one hot summer afternoon

This is the Little Creatures variation, which I missed on my Morning Haiku and Waka post - eight (\8) stanza renga with a twist. What does that mean "with a twist" you have to follow the following "line-structure" 3 lines 2 lines 3 lines 2 lines 2 lines 3 lines 2 lines 3 lines,
Yes, I'd wondered about that ... good news for a little girl, but horrible news for a daisy!
ReplyDeleteHad to laugh at the bees grumbling over lost food --- :)
A great take, Georgia --
Thanks .. and in my opinion ... I think I have to edit a bit ... glad you liked the take though.
DeleteI remember doing this as a child and then with my children. I love this: "unamused the bees look on

It just occurred to me also as I wrote the haiku ... thanks for stopping by!
